Alan began his wisdom training within the western esoteric tradition over 20 years ago (and consequently wrote Advanced Magick for Beginners), with his first classical awakening occurring back in 2009, ironically with an American guru in India.

Later that year, Alan began teaching through invitation, but it wasn't until 2013 - after guiding many students through the process of awakening - that he began developing the Wiser Practices and Master Class, along with his training of the first cohort of Wiser Practitioners, as his best attempt at reviving our cultural heritage of a rational, western wisdom tradition.

Alex has been studying and exploring the science of our human condition for over twenty years. He completed his PhD at University College London - on how we experience time and memory - through neuro- and cognitive-psychological studies, and worked with various clinical populations at St Thomas's Hospital.

Since then he has mainly worked in occupational settings, focusing on personality, wellbeing and motivation. Simultaneously, he became interested in esoteric ways of knowing that led him to the Wiser approach.  He is a Chartered Psychologist and Associate Fellow of the British Psychological Society, and has been writing for the society since 2011.
